BACCHUS TAKES CENTER STAGE AT THE NAPA VALLEY WINE AUCTION
Napa Valley Museum Hosts Auction Art Preview and Reception
3/8/2001 - A new twist on the Napa Valley Wine Auction art program revolves around a common theme, Bacchus, and he has never looked so good. 2001 Napa Valley Wine Auction co-chair Margrit Biever Mondavi has long been recognized for her pen and ink depictions of the mythical Bacchus character. The character decorates many of her personal notes, menus and winery materials.
The Art Committee has transformed this signature focal image into 4-foot high metal sculptures to be decorated by the Auction's participating artists in their medium of choice. Over 75 artists from the Napa Valley and beyond have taken the metal Bacchus sculpture into their studios and created individual one-of-a-kind masterpieces that will be auctioned at the annual fundraiser for Napa Valley health, youth and housing agencies.
Valley residents and visitors will have the opportunity to preview the collection of individual sculptures that will grace the grounds of Meadowood Napa Valley throughout the Auction. Many of the featured artists will be in attendance with their creations.
The Art Preview and Reception will be held on Wednesday, April 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Napa Valley Museum, located at 55 Presidents Circle on the grounds of the Veteran's Home in Yountville.
