This Premiere blend celebrates the Raymond family's heritage, honoring five generations of winemaking in Napa Valley. The 2007 vintage represents the 34th harvest from Raymond Vineyards. The wine is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from the original winery property on Zinfandel Lane in Rutherford. Each lot was hand sorted at harvest and aged separately in new, medium-toast French oak for 19 months. The resulting wine is a lush, concentrated, fruit-forward classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Karen Culler created a one-of-a-kind Cabernet Sauvignon blend with our Mount Veeder Tambor Vineyard and exclusive Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. This exemplary offering blends two complementary appellations within the Napa Valley. This wine is approachable and elegant, not overly powerful, yet will last for years. The Tambor Vineyard produces fruit that is very dense and dark, coming off a steep hillside vineyard with a southern-facing slope at an elevation of 400 feet. This vineyard receives cool breezes coming off the bay in the evening, while enjoying the site's sun exposure and warmth during the day. The Stags Leap District vines, grown on a slope called the River Block in a well-drained, dry-farmed area, are noted for dark berry flavors, great mouthfeel and tannin balance. This is especially fresh with good acidity, velvety and rich.

Rocca Family Vineyards is proud to present a bottling of 100% fruit from our estate Collinetta Vineyard in the Coombsville area of Napa Valley. This twelve-acre parcel is named Collinetta (Italian for "little hill") to reflect the small knoll rising from the center of the property, which gives our vines a 360-degree orientation to the sun. Two winemakers crafted this outstanding wine: Celia Masyczek and Paul Cotantuoni, working closely with vineyard manager Sergio Melgoza to ensure Cabernet Sauvignon grapes of the absolute highest quality (from Clones 4 & 337) went into this wine, along with a dash of Petit Verdot. In keeping with the Rocca house style that has garnered widespread critical acclaim, this Cabernet Sauvignon is classically structured with well-integrated, rounded tannin and a rich, dark fruit character. There are times in winemaking when one particular vineyard lot meets with one particular barrel to produce a wine that can only be described as hitting the sweet spot. Our vineyard in the rocky hills on the east side of St. Helena is home to "The Old 110R Block." This block is always the last to be harvested and typically produces a moody, inky wine with flavors of pencil lead and dark fruits. The 2007 vintage also possesses a spiciness that reminds us of sandalwood. The soft smooth tannins belie the depths.

Clone 29, a Napa Valley heritage clone, is the foundation for all Rubicon vintages. These vines were selected in France by Gustave Niebaum around 1883 and shipped to Rutherford, where they became some of the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines to be planted in Napa Valley. Continuously propagated on the estate since that time, U.C. Davis has certified the Niebaum clone as heritage clone #29. This individual lot of 100% Cabernet is a pure selection from one of our best and oldest clone #29 Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards.

Rutherford Hill sources Merlot from strategically selected vineyard locations throughout the Napa Valley, giving us an enviable assortment of superior grape sources to choose from. We selected our best hillside vineyard to make this wine. The wine was handmade in every way: the fruit was selected from a special area of the vineyard, the tank maceration was watched over daily until it was perfect, only the free run was used and a specific new French oak barrel was picked that match the fruit profile. The wine will be aged for 20 months in our underground caves.
