Napa Cellars
Cases: 5
Varietal: Syrah
Vintage: 2007
Release Date: October - 2009
Appellation: Los Carneros, Napa Valley
|
Lot Number: 123
Lot Description:
The grapes for this special bottling of Napa Cellars Syrah were harvested from the renowned Dyer Vineyard located on the gentle, sloping hills of south Napa. The clay loam soils on the northwest-facing hillside allow for excellent sun exposure and sufficient drainage. The relatively cool maritime climate allows the fruit to slowly ripen and produce a wine of depth and age-worthy complexity. After a 48-hour cold soak, the free-run juice and grapes were fermented using the rack-and-return method (delestage) favored by leading Bordeaux chateaux. In addition to increasing color and flavor, this process allows for the removal of seeds, which reduces astringency and produces more supple tannins. Before release, the wine will remain in small-format 225-liter barriques for 12 months. |
