Petit Verdot is one of the grapes approved for making red wine in Bordeaux. Typically, it's used to create a blending wine, seldom accounting for more than 10% of the final blend, to which it makes a disproportionately large contribution of a reddish-purple color, and powerful tannins, body and structure. It was, thus, with a spirit of adventure and a desire to defy conventional wisdom, that we selected fruit from our one-acre estate vineyard to create this first, age-worthy bottling. 100% Howell Mountain, 100% Petit Verdot. Consume this wine only with the most robust red meats and aged cheeses!

Our historical favorite for Premiere is truly one-of-a-kind. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and represents the top blocks from each of our hillside estate vineyards. Our Howell Mountain vineyard is at 1,800 feet atop Howell Mountain on the east side of Napa Valley, and the Lone Canyon Vineyard rests at 1,100 feet on the steep side slopes flanking Mt. Veeder in the western hills. This wine is the best of the estates and the best of Two Mountains.

Way back in the '80s, Jayson Pahlmeyer (aka Mr. Pickle) and John Skupny (Lang & Reed) would make a monthly pilgrimage to the "old" Soda Canyon Store to stock up on good eats and share dubious vinous intelligence. Now, 20 years later, they have put their heads together to create a masterful blend of marvelous Merlot and fantastic Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from our Howell Mountain Vineyard and being just shy of two acres, it's the smallest of our vineyards. The Cabernet Franc vineyard in St. Helena is one of the rockiest sites you will find in the Napa Valley—we only have about an acre of Franc planted to this four-acre vineyard and it give us low yields and wonderfully concentrated fruit. The final vineyard source for Aidan's Blend is a three-acre knoll top in the Oak Knoll District. This little Syrah vineyard produces some magical cool climate fruit, water starved and naturally low yields give us some of Napa's finest.

Our 2007 Luna Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of grapes from the sunlit slopes of Howell Mountain. The grapes were picked in late September, sorted pre- and post-destemming and fermented with native yeasts. After three weeks of maceration, the free-run wine is being aged in 100% new French oak. The wine has a deep blackberry color with aromas of blueberries and anise. The bright fruit flavors complement dusty tannins on the finish. This never-before-released wine represents the best of the Napa Valley's mountainside vineyards.
