The Del Bondio and Pelissa families have had a close relationship and have been connected through time. The Del Bondio's arrived in the Napa Valley in 1902 and the Pelissa family began harvesting grapes in the valley in 1903. Andrew Hoxsey, proprietor of Ghost Block and grandson of Andrew Pelissa, and Bryan Del Bondio, president of Markham Vineyards, have come together to create a Meritage blend from their respective Yountville vineyards: the Ghost Block Vineyard, which was part of pioneer George Yount's original land grant where he planted the first grapevines in the Napa Valley; and Markham's historic Yountville Vineyard, first planted after Prohibition, source of the winery's prestigious Merlots. Andrew and Bryan, both founding members of the Yountville AVA, have come together to create this powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Sawyer Cellars has created an elegant, 100% Rutherford AVA, estate-grown wine from our 50 acres of vineyards. Several blocks and clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, with carefully selected root stocks for this exceptional terroir, were blended together for this special wine. The wine was hand-crafted to reflect the true expression of the vintage, as well as the Rutherford growing district. Picked at perfect ripeness, this lot of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was meticulously chosen specifically for the 2009 Premiere Napa Valley by winemaker Brad Warner and vintner Charles Sawyer. After aging for 24 months in French oak, the "marriage" was truly perfect! This outstanding wine shows layers of dark fruit flavors, moderate tannins and a lasting finish.

When it's really, really good and perhaps even better than the year before, do it again, hence "Encore," a repeat of last year's "Tribute" offering, which was dedicated in memory of my late father, Robert. 100% Spring Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Clone 15 & 50% Clone 337. The 2007 vintage is our 31st vintage and quite possibly our best. In these 31 years we have gone through a lot and learned a lot. This single-barrel lot of Oberon Hillside Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was chosen personally by the Michael Mondavi family. Small crops of intensely flavored grapes are harvested from their hillside vineyards, planted to specification in 1998 by Michael and his son, Rob. Well-drained volcanic soils and excellent sun exposure produce wines with concentrated dark fruit flavors, balanced by coffee and toasted vanilla nuances from barrel aging. This special single-barrel selection from the 2007 vintage persists as an ideal representation of the excellent wines that Napa Valley hillside vineyards yield.

This Premiere blend celebrates the Raymond family's heritage, honoring five generations of winemaking in Napa Valley. The 2007 vintage represents the 34th harvest from Raymond Vineyards. The wine is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from the original winery property on Zinfandel Lane in Rutherford. Each lot was hand sorted at harvest and aged separately in new, medium-toast French oak for 19 months. The resulting wine is a lush, concentrated, fruit-forward classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Silver Oak recently added a fabulous mountain vineyard to its stable of estates. We named it Jump Rock, and it is located in the Atlas Peak area where red, rocky outcroppings masquerade for soil. Our offering this year is a barrel of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from this extraordinary site, aged in a new American oak barrel assembled by nine-year-old Connor Duncan. Connor is the son of Silver Oak's president David Duncan and although he does not intend to become a cooper, he has declared this wine to smell "yummy." The wine has deep color, rich, full-bodied flavor and a great expression of blackberry fruit. This is a one-of-a-kind, single-vineyard Silver Oak.
